The Republic Marine Corps is the accumulation of many pre-galactic civilizations' marine forces.
While they do have a wide array of responsibilities, the space marines provides almost all of the security for government installations, including buildings, space stations and ships.
During conflict, the RMC is usually the first unit called upon to secure the given area while requests are made for the Republic Space Force troops.
